ERIC
O SULLIVAN
Eric is a visual artist who graduated with a BA Fine Art specialising in sculpture and combined media from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2023.

Eric’s practice deals with the re-contextualisation of materials and spaces found in construction environments through employing conflicting values and contradicting forms.
Drawing his inspiration from growing up in unfinished and unrealised construction spaces led to him naturally gathering an understanding and admiration for the subject matter. This exposure of raw material showed to him a more honest portrayal of the environment and became something he wished to explore in his work.
With this industrial material Eric fabricates abstract geometric bodies that contort themselves into forms that contradict the materials intrinsic values. Paired with these forms is a red light which takes on the role of spatial engagement and symbiotic partnership. The tangible paired with the intangible establishes an interconnected relationship throughout the space.

The Site is an exploration of familiar materials in unfamiliar circumstances. We see lengths of metal folding and curving upon themselves to create cursive forms, Plinths built up of concrete blocks act as both a functional object as well as an abstract one. Coated upon all of this is a red light which transforms the entire space into a new territory for these works to exist within.
