250 was done over the space of 3 weeks whilst working on an olive farm in Umbria, Italy. The goal of this project was to capture the cultivation of the land in a manner that was subtle and referred back to how interconnected the land and the farmer were. I wanted to highlight the grounded approach employed by the farmers in contrast to our machine dominated landscape nowadays. The flesh of hands were favoured over the mechanisms of metal where possible. 250 olive trees were planted by hand during this period, this included measuring the land evenly, digging the holes, installing support poles and tying each tree in order for it to grow straight. The olives they produce will be turned into oil to be distributed to friends and families of the farmers who own the land.
